I have tried and tested Milos Birthday Surprise with both my students and two children at home. It really is the best book to introduce letter sounds to young children. The app with catchy song is easily accessible too.

My prep daughter loves reading this book because 'It is the same as the one at school'. It is helping her recognise letters when sounding out words to form her written sentences. Phonetics is a fabulous way to learn how to form written words.

Fun book for early literacy

This is a great book for 4-6 year olds learning early letter-sound awareness. My 4 year old loves looking at it while listening to the Milo's Music CD. The two (CD - sold separately) go really well together to work on other phonological awareness skills too, like illiteration and rhyme. We have used this book to identify things that start with the sounds he is learning and he loves that Milo also starts with 'M' and has a birthday is the same day as his!!
